I didn't post all this week...still crazy from the holiday, and so much going on personally and at work. So I thought I'd pop in on this bright and beautiful Saturday morning, the very first day of December. There were alot of GRATITUDE posts floating around Facebook in November, everyone posting days of what they were thankful for. November was all about thankfulness, as it should be. We should stop and take notice of our blessings...we tend to spend way too much time complaining about what we lack. So November was a great time to take stock and see things right side up. December, to ... Read More
We interrupt the regularly scheduled program…
Taking a break from Emily's Life Lessons and Hot Tool Guys today.... :) I know, I know, but it's Saturday and I think a little time away from sexy men and snarky moments will be good for us. Right? Besides, then we can truly appreciate them again when Monday rolls around. Today, I thought I'd pay homage to Friday nights. What? Friday nights? What on earth does that mean?? Well, I live in Texas, and this time of year is about football. High school football. As in the real life Friday Night Lights. Some people might think that was just a movie. Or a TV series. But let me assure ... Read More
Back To School…
This is a big year in our house. The last of our little birds has started her senior year. That pic up there is her first day of Kindergarten, and her first day of 12th grade. Click here to read the rest of this post at Women Unplugged... ... Read More
Where I’m From…
This was an exercise from last year, and while I'm not a huge proponent of recycling, this one has been on my mind lately. My parents old house across the street from me is for sale, and they've cut down the big swing tree in the backyard. The one with the chains that grew into the tree. It's all in pieces at the street, and I've stared at them for the past two days. This is an amazing thing to do for yourself, and the template is at the bottom for you to give it a shot. Here's a little piece of me. Where I’m From… I am from Coca-Cola and orange soda straight from the bottle, and ... Read More
Naming grandparents…
My daughter and I got to talking this week about what her kids will call me and my husband. Now--just for the record--she's seventeen and this is all just for curiosity's sake. LOL. We aren't worrying our little heads about this anytime soon. But it made for a fun conversation. My grandparents growing up were Paw Paw and Nanny on one side, and Maw Maw on the other (never knew that grandfather). My parents were Nana and Paw Paw for their grandchildren, but I don't remember if the "Nana" was intentional, or if the first grandchild named her. My daughter's father is from the Midwest, and ... A church, a donkey, and a little girl…
That picture doesn't do justice to the spectacle that was real life. I drove the three hours there-three hours back trip to pick up my daughter yesterday. We do this every couple of months when she goes to her dad's. But today, I decided to take a different route home. Something to kick up the scenery a little bit. I told her when we made the exit, and yet she stayed focused on her phone and texting her friend. I told her to get out of her phone and experience the adventure with me, to which I got a raised eyebrow and a good amount of groaning before she just laughed at me and went with ... Read More
Simple is as simple does…
Today it is about the simple things in life. We all get crazy and sometimes lose sight of what's really important or some little slice of life that might bring us the peace we're chasing. I'm talking about the simple things over at Women Unplugged today, and what I did last weekend that's embarrassingly basic and yet was sooooo fabulous! Come pull up a chair and take a breath. Looking forward to it. ... Read More
A peek at my calendar says….
Have you noticed? 2012 is sneaking up on us, just a couple of days away. So in the spirit of starting anew, I thought I'd share my goals for the new year. 1) Finish Book 2 in first few weeks of January. Really, this isn't a goal so much as a requirement, since it's due just weeks afterward, but still...I like to see it there so I'll feel all good when I check it off. 2) Order promo materials for REASON in first week of January and figure out what I'm doing for local advertising. Tomorrow I'll talk about just how outside my box that is. *shiver* 3) Write 20 guest ... Read More
Happy Turkey Day!!
Popping in to wish you all a very blessed Thanksgiving Day!! So....while we all celebrate this holiday in different ways....some with turkey, some with gumbo, some with lasagna... (my table does NOT look like the above, by the way...) the basic idea is the same. To reflect on the year, and the blessings you've been given. For me... there are the things I'm always thankful for. My family, my amazing supportive and loving husband, my kids who almost aren't kids anymore. They are 21 and just short of 17. My old lady dog, Ruby. The 21 cockatiels in our backyard aviary that are enjoying a ... Read More
