A quickie for ya…
For you writers…
What is the first line of your latest book or wip? Does it hook?
I’ll share the first line of BEFORE AND EVER SINCE (second book):
There is a distinct moment when you know that your day has gone down the toilet.
Okay, I showed you mine, you show me yours! 🙂

More than one line, but…..
“Hey, Bradford, aren’tcha goin’ to class today? It’s too early in the semester to go skippin’ out, bud.”

Wow, Sharla–we are on similar wavelengths. Here’s the first line from Taming Kate:
“Kate Minola knew exactly what kind of day it would be the moment the dog shit in her purse.”

Damn. I don’t have time for this.

Sorry!! That’s the first line of the book not a comment on the posts! I just realized… duh. It’s the first line from Winds of Change, my debut novel coming out in a matter of weeks… it’s in copy editing and cover design. #2 is nearing completion as well.
Laura Drake says
Oh Mary, that’s funny! I figured it out, but that line made me sit back and say, “whoa!” before I figured it out!
Good first line!
Mary Metcalfe says
Good thing I realized it!! But hubby and I had a great laugh over it. It was 6 a.m. my time when I wrote it and before 1st or 2nd coffee.
Sharla Lovelace says
Love these!!! I love first lines. They say so much!! Thanks ladies for sharing yours!
