That is the question!!
I grew up with artificial trees because my brother had allergies, and the second I moved out (okay maybe not the very second…since it was July) I started getting real Christmas trees. I love a real tree. Love the smell and the feel of them. Love that it’s different every year. My daughter started naming them each year.
Then I remarried into a “Artificial Tree Family”. *insert dramatic music here*
This was difficult for me. He had very strong feelings about his tree, that he spent hours wiring up with lights…himself…so that he didn’t have to do it every year. He had it down to a science. So how could I scrap that for my real tree? Our house is small, so there wasn’t room for two trees. Plus he has bad allergies as well. So I’ve spent the last 9 years with no piney smell. No rich feel of Douglas pines.
But I miss it!
So what is adorning your house this season?
Do you do real or artificial? And what are your thoughts on it?
Patricia Yager Delagrange says
It’s definitely “real” for us, even though my son and husband have allergies, but we don’t think they’re allergic to trees. We blame it on the dog hair and the indoor heating system! I love that piney smell as well, Sharla, and can “feel your pain” of having an artificial tree. But you know what happened to us yesterday? We went to get our tree at Home Depot and my daughter wanted a wreath. They looked fresh and beautiful and not too bad of a price, so she selected “just the right one” and as we’re bringing it to the cash register, we find a “Made in China” tag on the back! It’s fake. And we never knew it.
